Bhuvanekabahu VII was King of Kotte in the sixteenth century, who ruled from 1521 to 1551. He succeeded his father Vijayabahu VII as king and was his eldest son. Bhuvanekabahu VII was succeeded by his grandson Dharmapala. Mayadunne of Sitawaka was his brother.
The last rites during the funeral of King Bhuvanekabahu VII of Kotte, a Hindu monarch who signed all of his official proclamations in Tamil were conducted at Koneswaram temple, Trincomalee in 1551. His closest religious official and most trusted ambassador was of Hindu faith.
